Hair Stuff!

Just a tiny little release to prove that I haven't died or anything. Here are a couple of cute bows for your hair. One is big and floppy and has stars, the other is double bows on each side of your head. These are super cheap (L$30 each or L$185 for all colors)!

Distractions!

Since my computer had been down, to fill my need for playing dress up with something, I ended up diving head first into the world of BJDs. The downside is that they are incredibly expensive though after looking at the process and the cost of materials...there's a good reason why.

Somehow that didn't stop me though. The only thing I refuse to buy for them is clothes, I can't see spending money on clothes for a doll when it costs the same as an outfit for myself!

This is my newest one, a little anthro fox that came dressed as a train station master. I think I may make him a little outfit that resembles a butler or something but I'm not sure. Also I'm having problems thinking of a good name for him but I'm sure it'll come to me eventually.

I've also really wanted to make my own simply because it would be cheap and I could proudly say that I made it. So far I've made a head and I plan to just buy a body for it .

The back of the head is off right now because I'm still working on hallowing out the insides more so that eyes fit better as well as adding some ears. The eyelids also need some touching up and then a good sanding to even out the rough spots.

My big project though is to make a small faun girl. She will be about the same height as my little fox. My reason was that a certain company came out with a little limited faun girl (well they're androgynous but they look like girls mostly) and I honestly fell in love at first sight. It was mostly with the hooves though, hooves seem to be a big fad right now in the bjd world but these were different than anything out there yet. There's no way I can bring up that kinda money though in a few days so I decided that this was what was going to get me to make a full doll.

That's all I have right now is one leg. I should have made both at the same time but this is a first time thing for me, I really wanted to make sure I could do it. It's rough and a bit ugly but I still have quite a few hairs to add and alot of sanding to do before this will look anything close to pretty. It's already teaching me quite a bit about sculpting.

I'm Officially Back!

After all these months I've finally got everything in order and have returned to SL. My computer still isn't 100% fixed but it runs and that's all that matters to me at the moment.

Unfortunately in the hard drive crash, everything was lost and it's kind of been discouraging so I might not get back to building things for a little while. My shop will remain open though in the meantime.

Man it's good to be back!

I've been mostly working irl and will be moving to a new apartment at the end of the month so things have been pretty insane here. The good news is though that my computer is getting closer to being repaired. Unfortunatly the only way to save it is to wipe the harddrive and start anew, I'll be losing some things that were really vital but I was able to save most of the things that were important for my shop in SL. Hopefully in the next week or so, my computer might be up and running and I can finally get back to SL! I HOOOOOOOOPE!

So things were going pretty great, I was working pretty hard to get those new textures done so I could start building more hairs and have pretty new textures and make a big ol come back!

Long story short, after trying to get a game to work on my computer, I must have killed a system file and now I'm unable to boot my computer. How great is that?

My IT friend says that I could just easily fix it by putting in my windows install disk but I don't have one lol. Anyway he's supposed to at some point come and assist me on this but his schedule is pretty tight so that might not be for a while.

I've tried getting on SL with my mother's computer but it just doesn't have the juice to run it. I'm resorting to using my PS3 for all my simple browsing and email stuff but besides that, there's not much I'm able to do.

Go me.

So alot of different things in my real life have happened and I'm still not quite sure if it's all been real or not. I even question if my life before it all was even real. But I finally think I'm ready to start doing things again as I used to.

So the past couple of days I have been nudging myself back onto SL, not really to do any work but to get back in touch with friends and secure important bonds once again.

I will say that my first task is to revamp hair textures to make them more shiny and brilliant and to finally have tipped colors. I estimate this task will probably take me a few days to create the default texture itself and then another day to do all the colors.

Never fear, I have not vanished!

Unfortunate Circumstances

So I've been pretty absent for a week or so but there's good reason. My boyfriend became fairly unwell about a week ago. His breath was shortened and he had severe chest pains for about three days. We decided it was time to take him to the ER when he could barely stand and found out that he had congestive heart failure.
He was in the hospital for a few days and has finally been released but he's not 100% well.

So yeah, it's just been a week of hell and worry and sleepless nights.

Another New Hair!

This next hair I just put out has kinda been a long time coming. Sort of. I had always loved Chii's hair but my first attempts are making it were...not pretty. Then again, I was going at it all wrong. Now that I have new tricks up my sleeve, I could finally do it. Except that's not what it really started out as. I just wanted really long poofish hair and then while looking around at some anime, spotted Chii's hair and kinda finished it off from there.

Except this one didn't say Chii to me so it has another name instead.

Two new hairs @ Penumbra

So I've been absent for a while due to a combination of work and video game addiction and having a few days off finally, I decided to get my creative juices flowing. Well that and the fact that I'm saving up for both a convention and a new Obitsu doll *cough cough*

So expect to see quite a bit out of me the next few weeks or months even!

So first up we have Shinonome:

This one you'll have to demo to really appreciate but it's based off of a character by the same name from a series called Amatsuki. It's a really cool topknot style with loose spiky hair in the back.

Next is Oni:

This one is the hair style of an original character I made that doesn't even have a name. However is an Oni and so that's what I tagged on it. I almost thought of making his clothing and whatnot for this one but decided not to start a project I wouldn't finish.

Bah Humbug!

Alright so thanks to my mother, I had been without internet for a few days (or more, I lost track) as she did something the internet company didn't like.

AAAAANYWAY.

I don't think I'll have any winter exclusives or anything like that. I was going to actually release a kimono set with the Yuki Onna hair but my idea for it didn't work out as I wanted it too and decided to drop the idea for now.

I'm going to attempt to get back on and make some more stuffs!

New Hair: Yuki Onna

Well because it's supposed to be winter...everywhere in the world except where I live that is, I thought I'd release something wintery.

My choice was the Yuki Onna. A Japanese snow demon, she appears to mostly men lost in the snow and entices them, luring them even deeper into the woods so that they will never return or breathing frost upon them and freezing them to the spot.

Or you could also use this as a Sadako (Samara in the US version) from The Ring.

New Hair: Moro & Maru

Now mind you, these aren't out for sale yet, but I wanted to make this post now before I forget later.

I will be putting out two new hair styles and let's just say they're twin styles XD

Maru is the female version while Moro is the male version.

As for where the names came from, Marudashi and Morodashi are two characters from xxxHolic and their names aren't exactly G rated lol.

The differences between the two aren't obvious at first but Moro is more spiked, has a little more hair covering the cheeks and bangs coming down the front. Maru has the bangs tucked up and is a little more slicked back. Either way, I'm pretty proud of both of them.

These will be up for sale some time tomorrow but for now you at least get a preview:

Another Year!

That's right, tomorrow is Siyu Suen's and my "Rezday"

It's the day that we both created accounts and began our "Second" lives.

Last year we had a rockin party with a purple and blue theme and danced to music aaaall night long. No really, we didn't go to bed till about 10 in the morning.

Yet again this special day comes and it's still kind of amazing to me that we've stuck to this place for two whole years! TWO!

Mysterious Ears!

So I know some people have probably seen some ears with lots of fluff coming out of them sitting atop the head of one of my friends but no, they are not yet for sale. They happen to be part of a certain project and will not be released before the whole thing is finished. No approximate time on when everything will be finished but soon, very soon!

Also I made some pretty neat hair and that is finished. As to why it isn't up yet...I don't have a good excuse lol

I'll try to get it up within the next day though, promise!

New Hair: Bao

I saw a few "bao" styles popping up and though it's not hard to make, nor is it hard to make it not adorable, none of them were quite to my liking. So I made my own! This comes with the option of having the braids or not having them, either way it still looks cute.

So many things have been happening.

My shop is no longer where I have it...or is it really existent at the moment. I do still have most everything available on SLX though.

I decided the wipe my slate clean and start over from scratch with my shop. New name, new image, new location. Actually, make that plural cause I've been offered sevreal different shop spots.

I've been working on new hairs, new random items, and even some skin that is entirely mine. After alot of poking and prodding by my friend Selos, she convinced me that I have the ability to make my own skins instead of modding someone else's.

It's kinda hard to fit everything in though since I'm moving and going on a short vacation.

Long Time no See!

I haven't updated here in a while. Mainly because I took a break and then I've been tweaking somethings and trying to create a new set of hair textures. I am happy to report that I was successful!

I now have hair textures that are my own creation, made from scratch. No more using freebie textures, not that they were horrible but it didn't make the hair feel like it was really my creation.

I'm planning to totally revamp my store too, get rid of some old junk, re make some things. I really just want to change the face of my shop to tell the truth. Maybe start from scratch.

Dora-gun Chan!

I've been wanting to make skins since I learned about the possibility. I had no idea how to go about it though or really what to make. At one point I found inspiration and created a set of dragon scales that conveniently covered the female bits. Unfortunately, I still didn't know how to make the actual skin part and so the scales were more like a tattoo placed over the system skin. It was hideous but I was still a noob so I didn't know that anything better was really out there.

I tried again a while after that to make a skin because I wanted some facial tattoos but I had a weird problem with the eyelashes always coming out white no matter what tricks I tried.

Then my friend informed me that Eloh Eliot had released some free psds of her skins and that she encouraged people to edit and even sell them! I grabbed them and held them for a week with no real idea what to do. Then it hit me again, that dragon skin I had wanted was now a possibility and this time it would look much better. Now after a week or two of toiling with different scale patterns and layouts, I present this!

Zomg

This makes me feel like a character out of Xenosaga or something. Originally it was a mech avatar from Grendel's Children which in my opinion is extremely close to a character named Skeith from .hack//G.U. But hell, it all looks so awesome that I don't give a damn.

I pulled the symbols from the chest piece which you originally had to wear in order to get many of the effects.

Crazy Hair

I had a craving for hair that was kinda crazy and so after throwing some prims around for a little while, it finally started to take shape and became this!:

I named it Gekko because one of the hair clips has a little bitty gecko. The clips, gecko, and hair ties are all tintable.

Since I don't have a large prim allowance, I can't offer individual colors so all my hair come in color packs but to make up for the fact that you don't have a choice of buying them separate, they are insaaaaanely cheap. How cheap? Try L$150! It's not like I'm losing money or anything so I don't mind putting them up for such a small price.

Fuzzy and Warm

Getting a new computer is always great but then there are some disadvantages, such as the fact that all my resources were on my old computer and I have yet to transfer them so I am basically having to start from scratch in Photoshop.

I usually forget to update here when I add something new to my shop so I'll do it now while I'm thinking about it XD

Firsties, it's winter time and that means people are gonna get cold! I made a pair of knitted mittens and some fuzzy fuzzy earmuffs with a matching knit band. Everything is tintable and cheap; both things for L$50 :D

Next are some leg warmers. I know there are sculpted ones and probably some that are much better than these but I wanted some prim leg warmers with the rolls that weren't just straight tubes. These actually have a curve that shapes to the leg because your legs aren't boards! These too are tintable and cost only L$20.

Also because I haven't mentioned my shop here yet, everything is mod/copy so I won't refund you if you make a mistake while editing. However, if you give me your transaction number, I will replace them for you.

Monochrome Cute

I don't usually do the whole fashion thing and never meant to turn my blog into a fashion log of sorts, not cause I hate it or anything but it's just not my bag. Though I will make such a post because well, I like my outfit right now and I felt like showing off. :P

It's pretty much a throw-together. I usually like to wear sets as they come (cause I get lazy and someone else already made something look cool for me XD) and it took me a while to find hair that really pulled it together for me. Luckily Helyanwe came through right on time as this hair was just released today!

Shenanigans at Le Zoo

My good friend Candy Flanagan mentioned a new sim to me called "Le Zoo". Needless to say, my curiosity was piqued. She invited me along for a little adventure with her older brother and I couldn't possibly decline! Then as we got there, things came up and he wasn't able to supervise us on our Zoo adventure. Now there were two children, free of parents or guardians...we had no choice but to cause havoc.

After a heated debate on what animal we should check out first, we were distracted by the melodious song of the penguin. We quickly ran to the edge of the enclosure and pressed our shiny faces to the glass. Many squeals of joy rang out across the crisp air as we caught sight of fluffy little chicks and tall waddling birds dressed in sharp tuxedos.

Just across from the silly birds, we spotted more movement. A great white terror lazing about in the ice. "Polar bear!" we squealed. Upon closer inspection we discovered that this bear had a cub by its side and we proceeded to bang violently upon the glass, maybe we wanted it to look at us, maybe we wanted to climb inside and snuggle them, either way, none of these things happened.

At this point, we were famished and we needed something to give us more fuel. We spotted an ice cream stand and raced at full speed. The person behind the counter took one look at our sad little faces and practically threw the ice cream at us in haste. We consumed it with much vigor and upon turning spotted a very creepy man in a long black coat. He seemed moody the whole time as he stared at us and I had my shin kicking skills at the ready if he got any ideas of offering us candy.

We promptly dashed off and discovered a gift shop with balloon animals and stuffies ready for hugging! The thing that caught our attention most though was the Zoo Mobile. Candy insisted on driving and I agreed; I was confident in her driving abilities. Apparently so were two other grown-ups that joined us quickly on our cart. (The two specimens were confirmed as Lana Miranda and Haedon Quine XD) It was quickly realized however that this would not be a joyful ride through the park, more like Russian roulette with a vehicle.

It was not long after browsing through a few shops that she lost control and flipped the cart into a lovely Christmas tree. Luckily the tree survived mostly unharmed but...we lost our two dear passengers. They will probably never be seen again but we hope that maybe...just maybe, they're in a better place today.

We hadn't learned our lesson yet though as we grabbed yet another cart, though this time it was little Kriket's turn behind the wheel. I decided this time to take it a little slower and despite some bumps and a twisted bumper, we got through it alright. However the cart was quickly ditched when we discovered that one of the creatures had gotten itself loose of the cages. We found him gingerly munching on a hat and ignoring our pokes and prods. After deciding that he was quite preoccupied, we took things to the next level. Let me just say that climbing a rhino is harder than it looks.

We said goodbye to our leathery friend and took a peek inside the shop where he was browsing only to discover that he had apparently been inside as well. (lol, the pile was a pose stand.)

After a long day at the zoo, our sugar rushes faded and I opted for a nap to recharge those spent batteries. I hope to return soon and maybe this time I'll get to ride a giraffe.

On this day Kriket joined leagues with the might Gundam and Zaku units and together, they blew the crap out of an unsuspecting city muahahahahahahahaha!

Actually I was just flying around after checking out a shop and found these life scale Gundam and Zaku units, their weapons aimed directly at a city blown to smithereens.

Midnight Masquerade and Halloween Goodies

Last night was Siyu Suen's Midnight Masquerade, a black and white themed ball. There were quite a few people there and everyone was dressed so nicely. Siyu made special masks as prizes for the best dressed male and female and made her appearance looking somewhat like Princess Amidala. XD
As for myself, I kept it nice and simple (seeing as how there was a 150 prim limit to keep the lag down XD) and found probably the only straight black and white kimono there is in SL. Luckily it's a very well made one! I also bought geisha dances because the usual dances that have you moving all over the place make that skirt stretch out in ugly ways. Unfortunatly I got tired about two hours in and had to call it a night but I'm sure everyone had fun without me. :P

Halloween is nearly here and so many designers have been offering things for the holiday! In the Japanese side, Moeka Kohime (creator of Edelweiss and the haunted hospital) created a little stamp rally game. You grab a card from the White Arrow Cafe and start there. You equip this little card and click the stamp machine and the little stamp actually shows up on the card! It's such a neat idea, anyway, you then take the card to the two other shops for stamps (I'll be bad and tell you that it's Edelweiss and Katsuzo Works) and then return to the White Arrow Cafe. There you click on Moeka's butler with the pumpkin head and he gives you a gift box full of goodies from each of the three locations.

From White Arrow you get two adorable sculpted Halloween themed chairs, from Katsuzo you get a little pumpkin firework that you can put on your desk, and from Edelweiss, this awesome batwing headband. The wings grow huge when you fly!

The next place with goodies is of course Bare Rose. You must find these tiny little characters that each hold a piece of either the male or female outfit. Both are really awesome. Luckily you get a little help, you can grab a notecard with directions and screenshots that give hints to the locations of the little Amechans.

Also, you can't forget Deviant Kitties. Helyanwe is holding a pumpkin hunt! I was expecting to be looking around a little for normal pumpkins but noooooo, she had to make them super tiny. There are 16 pumpkins to find, each one holds a special surprise from hair, clothing, eyes, even skin! Taking the time to find all 16 was worth it. :)

Adventures in Lico Lico and More

Yesterday I went in search of something new and cute and made a few discoveries. First I stopped by Cherry Tokyo Kimonos. They have a huge selection as you can see in the picture and that was just one wall! They also have more formal kimonos, geisha wigs, and fans that emit pretty particles. Upstairs they also have a small selection of cosplay.

Next I went to a shop called Sugar. They had some more skimpy kimonos and plenty of cosplay. I couldn't resist taking a picture of this outfit. XD

The next stop was the Lico Lico mall. I had no idea what I was missing until I dropped by. Right now they have a Halloween mall up which gathers many Halloween specials from all sorts of designers, a must see. There are so many shops in the regular mall catering to gothic lolita lovers. This shop in particular caught my eye, it has beautifully textured kimonos and a few cute little house decorations.

Here's another shop full of adorable clothing called CanalGrande. Coats, mini-kimono, and frilly dresses. Come and get it!

I'm sure a few people have seen this big cuddly bugger around in the Japanese sims. I also found him here at Lico Lico. He's giant and adorable and can seat three people! He comes in three colors and has poseable ears for that cute floppy look or a perky and whimsical mood.

I stopped by a small shop called Kiki's Closet and was excited to find this freebie, an entire dress and matching headdress. It's a great quality freebie with sculpted sleeves. Everything else in this shop is incredibly cheap and cute.

I grabbed my friend Candy Flanagan to partake in this jem and she popped out her own adorable rabbit friend. We then proceeded to zoom around the mall perched atop bunny (no it's not a vehicle, she just dragged it along XD)

I caught sight of this tiny dancing...soooo adorable.

Then Candy showed me the most awesome thing EVER. For Halloween, Moeka Kohime (Maker of Edelweiss) set up a special version of hide and seek. It's a haunted hospital full of ghosts that will probably cause you to jump in your chair when they suddenly fade into view. Grab a free flashlight and gather a few friends, this is definitely worth it. I won't spoil anymore of it but the end holds some goodies for sale and look, this ghost kitten decided he wanted to haunt me for the rest of my days. Good thing he's cute.

This is a journal mostly about my adventures in Second Life. I should have started it earlier though; I've had soooo many awesome moments. I really believe that Second Life has had a hand in shaping me a bit in my growth in the year I have been playing. I've met many different types of people and though I don't talk to them all now, they have all touched me in some way that I couldn't possibly forget. Anyway, enough with the mushy stuff.

Let's hear about "Kriket Pimpernel."
Though Kriket is my avatar, sometimes I think that maybe when I'm offline, she has a life of her own out there. Probably not but leave my imagination alone :P. Her appearance is always changing but there are a few things that always stay somewhat the same. She has a blue and a green eye (heterochromia) and white hair (though not always in the same length or style XD). Also, she is somewhat anthro and of the canine variety, having white ears and tail. Although sometimes I feel like being an elf or faun because change is good. Her style of dress varies from elegant gothic lolita to street punk.

Now, what exactly do I do in Second Life? The very first thing I did was explore. SL is huge! There's tons of new stuff being added everyday and I want to see it all. Usually I just pick a word of interest and enter it into search, then run around to places that look interesting. Then I learned how to build and so I do that too. I like to build all kinds of different things though because I don't think my attention span could handle focusing on one type of build. I also have a job! I work for my best SL friend, Siyu Suen. She owns a shop called Illusions (click her name for her blog about her shop or click the shop's name to be teleported directly!). She's got mad skills in building, especially with sculpted prims. Anyway, I work as a greeter and helper at her shop. Either that or I encourage her and give her critique to help her builds be the best that they can be!

I've done alot of things in SL, played many roles and such. I don't roleplay much now though because most of the RP sims are the same thing, dark and grungy cities with fighting and sex. I need something deeper and more involved to keep my interest.

Well then, how about a little of the real life me? The person behind Kriket?
I do not lead an exciting life. I'm 19 years old, I graduated a year late from high school because in my freshman year my parents decided that they didn't want to be around each other anymore. I'm very shy and don't usually talk to people. I don't do it to be rude or anything like that, I just believe that one doesn't really need to open their mouth unless they have something worth saying. I live with my boyfriend and have been together with him for 3 years now and he is one of my best friends.
I am an artist, any type of art you put in front of me, I will spit out a finished piece and it will probably be pretty good. Not trying to sound cocky about it but I am told I should learn to accept compliments XD. I am extremely encouraging about another building their own artistic skill however and will gladly teach people any techniques or secrets I know in order to reach a more beautiful tomorrow.
